Produce trucking
Fresh produce loses shelf life every hour it spends at the wrong temperature. We move 1–6 pallet produce loads in refrigerated vans and box trucks from Otay Mesa and San Diego produce houses to the LA Wholesale Produce Market, local customers, and destinations nationwide.

Who it’s for
Produce businesses moving partial loads
- Importers picking up from Otay Mesa cold storage
- San Diego produce houses and distributors
- Packers and growers shipping to wholesale markets
- Grocers and restaurant groups with regular produce runs
- Wholesalers delivering to the LA Wholesale Produce Market
Temperature
Set the truck to the commodity, not a default
Produce does not share one ideal temperature. Leafy greens, berries, and most cut produce ship cold, close to freezing. Tomatoes, bananas, unripe avocados, and many tropical items are chill-sensitive and travel warmer.
Put the setpoint from your spec sheet or bill of lading in the quote request, and we run the unit to it.
| Band | Range | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Chilled | 33–40°F | Leafy greens, berries, broccoli, cut fruit |
| Cool | 41–60°F | Tomatoes, avocados, citrus, peppers, bananas |
Mixed loads
Tell us what travels together
Some fruit, such as apples, avocados, and tomatoes, gives off ethylene, which speeds up ripening and yellowing in greens and other sensitive items. If you plan to mix commodities, list them in your request so we can talk through the setpoint and loading.

In a refrigerated vehicle set to the right temperature for the commodity, loaded so cold air can circulate around the pallets, and delivered without long stops. Most leafy vegetables ship close to freezing; chill-sensitive items like tomatoes ship warmer.
What temperature should produce be shipped at?
It depends on the item. Many greens and berries ship between 33 and 36°F, while tomatoes, bananas, and avocados need warmer settings. Use your product spec, and we will set the unit to it.
